I’ve always been interested in going to a drift competition, from all the videos and photos I’ve seen of them.  This was my very first one, and I was even lucky enough to score a media pass!  Since drifting is just as much about form as it is about flat out speed, I decided to split the event between video and pics to capture it all.

Pics first, of course.  Most of these were taken in the second half of the event, with the top drifters of the day competing.   I used my D7000 + 80-200mm 2.8 on a monopod, using my Swivi monitor for critical focus.

There was even some tandem drift action!

For my first time at a drift competition, it was as awesome as I could’ve hoped for.   Some incredible runs, great cars, and a healthy layer of tire rubber covering me and my camera! :3  I’ll have the compilation video completed in the future.
